Online Socialites Take To Mobile Gambling Too

Posted by Gambling News | Gambling Industry News,Gambling News | Monday 19 November 2012 11:39 am

Over the past few years, socializing online has become very important to millions (if not billions) of people. Both Facebook and Twitter have seen to these, with a few more social media also trying their luck. But apart from an inherent need to share online, these users have also become increasingly mobile in their tastes. Certainly technology such as the smartphone, has made this more possible, and just as much fun. Now with online gambling becoming so popular, the need to share while we have a little flutter on a casino game, has also boomed.

Human beings are social animals by their very nature. We love communicating with one-another – Tweeting about the book we are reading, sharing with Facebook friends whatever is on the menu for dinner. It seems odd that online gambling and social media have become bedfellows, but they have.

Online bingo has always been known for the fact that the socialising is fun. But not only that, like-minded people play together, made friends, stay in touch and play a soft gambling game. Today this gaming and social activity has extended to many other gambling games, so, people now play games and chat simultaneously to other lovers of these games. The fact is that doing this by mobile media has become absolutely normal, and right now a social, mobile gambling boom is being seen!

Of course the reason why this form of socializing and wagering at the same time has become so popular, is because it is just so easy to do, and people love being winners. It is unlike that growth in this marketplace will stop anytime soon. More and more people are getting smartphone savvy, and realising that a lot more than making a telephone call can be done with these phones. It has even been predicted that smartphone sales will way outstrip that of desk-tops and lap-tops very soon.

Zynga is an example of a mobile an online games developer which has had huge success together with Facebook as its platform, but they are also seriously getting involved with developing mobile gambling games. In fact many once-social games only companies are talking about monetizing their games.

Once Zynga Poker was the benchmark for just about every social gaming company based on its Facebook success, and it will be fascinating to see what the future holds for the company. They have a massive reach in the social gaming marketplace, and they also employ some exceptionally experience developers who know that that marketplace wants from a social gaming perspective.

While Zynga appears to have reached critical mass in recent times, and is not performing very well financially, by monetizing their gaming offering, this might turn things around. Certainly if they succeed, again they will be the benchmark for other players who are interested in getting into the mobile/social gambling game. Experts are saying that the Facebook game bubble has burst, so, we wait with baited breath to see what becomes popular next.

One thing we can be certain of is that whatever it is, it will be mobile.

Pensioner Turned Online Gambling Addict Gets The Shock Of Her Life

Posted by Gambling News | Gambling News | Thursday 4 October 2012 2:17 am

Nothing in moderation is actually bad for anyone, but human nature being what it is can certainly play tricks on us. Addiction happens to be one of the nasty tricks that human nature plays. It is not the end of the world, and no-one is alone in this, and it is for this very important reason that all responsible UK online gambling site offer links to GambleAware, GameCare and so on.

While online gambling operators are in this industry to make a living, this does not mean to say that they wish to do this at the expense of humanity. These operators provide a service for people who what this service, people will ALWAYS gamble and always have; this is also an intrinsic part of human nature, just like many forms of entertainment are. In most parts of the world, gambling is entrenched in the culture, much like bingo is as British as bangers and mash.

Speaking of bingo in the context of this subject, one little story we recently read, brings home what we mean when we say that gambling is not the problem, people are the problem. We have to be adults to play bingo online, so, we should behave like responsible adults would and not be daft about it. One pensioner from North Shields took things a little too far and received the shock of her life. Fortunately she got a fright and realised things had to change.

This pensioner, turned jackpot chaser, instead of just having fun playing a few games and then packing it in, actually turned to fraud and to loan sharks to manage (if you could call this "manage") her gambling debt.

She says she became hooked on playing bingo and gambling online after losing her job – supposedly she had too much time on her hands – or this is what she told the courts. Is it true what they say – "idle hands do the Devils work"?

The sixty-three year old enjoyed some moderate success, and spurred on by this, instead of simply enjoying her good luck, allowed things to rage out- of- control. After turning to loan sharks who threatened her to recover their debt, she actually committed fraud by selling an investment property before filing for bankruptcy. The bankruptcy trustees picked up the sale and the £35 000 profit she made; this was where the police were called in. You can’t make £35K and thereafter file for bankruptcy.

Yes, she was threatened by the loan sharks to return their money, and had to pay stupid amounts of interest, which just goes to show that her stupidity was quite simply two-fold.
Living life in the hope of catching a big jackpot is not what online gambling is about. It is about having a bit of fun, within a players means, and if Lady Luck is on your side and you win. Thank the fates. If not, pack it in and don’t get out of control.

Asian Casino Boom Energized By Huge Economic Growth

Posted by Gambling News | Gambling Industry News,Gambling News | Friday 28 September 2012 6:24 pm

Things are changing rapidly in Asia, in particular in the economic sector. This is no longer one of the poor Global territories, and there is a rising middle class, which means various economic sectors are operating in over-drive. For example – the manufacturing industry in China – is there anything new you have purchased recently that has not been manufactured in China. In response to this, the new middle class Asian resident also demands their fair share of recreation. One of the most popular forms of recreation is gambling.

Therefore, not only the online gambling industry is experiencing a boom. The live gambling industry, in particular in Asia, is booming. Macau offers us a dynamically clear picture of just how rapid economic growth has been. This part of the world has benefitted hugely from the gambling industry, but they are also now taking a closer look at the social impact of gambling as an industry. While there is no gambling per se on Mainland China. Millions of Chinese tourist, save up every penny they can to spend in Macau taking a gamble.

After Macau was monopolised by the Chinese for a period of time (four decades), it has now been opened up to the rest of the world to develop this booming business, although there are moratoriums on certain pieces of property. Manila Bay, Macau, is the home to reclaimed land. Yes, they have re-claimed land from the sea to create a home for a $4 billion casino-resort. This will soon rise like the lost land of Atlantis, funded by foreign investors. US companies such as Las Vegas Sands, MGM, and Wynn Resorts have also flocked to this former Portuguese colony.

Foreign investors in the gambling business, are also currently breaking ground in South Korea. There are plans afoot here to hatch a whole clutch of casino-type resorts. Then on the Eastern edge of Russia, a casino resort area has also been planned to provide a catchment for Chinese gambling high-rollers. And when we talk about Chinese high-rollers, we refer to nose-bleed spenders.
Up-scale, glitzy, Las Vegas styled resorts are the name of the game for casino developments catering to the needs of Asian tourists. As they increasingly become more affluent, so to, do their needs change. Gambling is the order of the day, but then so too is a stay in an up-market resort.

Most areas are working on emulating the Macau business principle; understandably so. For every $1 spent in Las Vegas today, $4 is spent in Macau. This makes it the largest casino game marketplace in the world. However, Singapore is catching up rapidly, and a year after the first casinos had opened, they had already raked in about $6 billion.

We all know there is massive amounts of money to be made in the gambling business if it is done in the right way. The Asian market it seems, is doing it in the right way, and Beijing seems to be happy to allow its wealthy togamble their fortunes away.
